Who is eligible for this treatment?

HIFU is recommended for people between the ages of 40 onwards.

People with loss in skin laxity, prominent howls, or excessive facial fats, fine lines and wrinkles.

Please note that the older and more lax your skin is will influence the number of treatments that you will require.

How often can you have a HIFU treatment?

It is recommended that you only have treatments every 12 weeks.

The reason being that HIFU triggers collagen production, having treatments done before the 12 week post treatment time, will not provide the skin with enough time to rebuild collagen.

HIFU treatments create controlled micro-injuries to stimulate collagen rebuilding.

Clients might require between 1 – 6 treatments depending on the results that they are looking for.

How long does HIFU face lift last?

HIFU results can last between 12 – 24 months. You need to continue having regular facial treatments at 4 weekly intervals to ensure constant glowing skin and to ensure your skin is cleaned, exfoliated and treated. RF Micro needling, non invasive laser treatments are also an option that will benefit and prolong your HIFU results.

Does HIFU work on loose skin?

Non-surgical / Non-invasive HIFU skin tightening harnesses ultrasound technology to trigger collagen renewal and tighten and lift your skin. If you have loose, crepey-textured skin after pregnancy, weight loss or simply due to the ageing process, then this treatment could be perfect for you.

How does HIFU compare to Botox?

HIFU is a non-invasive treatment that utilizes the body’s own generated collagen fibres to stimulate skin tightening and lifting, compared to botox and fillers that involve injecting foreign substances to achieve the same results.

The only down side is that botox is an instant results where HIFU does take up to 12 weeks to rebuild your own collagen.

Hence HIFU is more natural and longer lasting compared to botox.

How does HIFU compare to CO2 Laser?

HIFU is better for skin tightening and lifting due to its ability to target deeper skin layers. A study done by “The Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy” found that HIFU showed significant lifting on the cheeks, jawline, and neck. Laser treatment, especially ablative laser, is better for skin resurfacing and texture.

Are there any side-effects that can be experienced?

HIFU in general has no side effects but from experience the following have been noted while treating clients. This is not the norm, but a few clients have experienced these side-effects:

  • Tingling sensation while having the treatment
  • Some heat
  • Swelling
  • Numbness – this is temporary
  • Hives – this is treated immediately with PDT Light Therapy after each treatment
  • Rash – this is treated immediately with PDT Light Therapy after each treatment and a post inflammatory cream is applied with the recommended serum to hydrate your skin.

What does your face look like after HIFU?

As time passes, the skin will gradually feel tighter, firmer and smoother. With the treatment you will achieve lasting results you will notice firmer skin for about 12 – 24 months. From then on, the results will begin to fade. It is best to repeat the treatment to maintain the results.

Can HIFU destroy fat cells?

HIFU heats the area which can permanently destroy fat cells.

The ultrasound visibly tightens the skin at the same time.

The HIFU waves heat under the skin which tightens and lifts the skin, rejuvenating and repairing it.

Please remember that these results will go in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle change and exercise. If you do not follow a healthy life style and exercise new fat cells will form.

What are the levels of HIFU?

For the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for face and neck treatment, energy is delivered deep beneath the skin at appropriate temperatures, at three separate chosen levels (4.5mm, 3.0mm and 1.5mm). This heat causes the formation of a series of thermal coagulation points at approximately 1mm cubed.
