Who is an ideal candidate for skin tag / mole removal?
- A person who is healthy without any healing disorders.
- Persons with a low Fitzpatrick Level (Level I-III) are ideal candidates for this treatment.
- Persons with darker skin tones can be prone to hyper / hypo pigmentation.
Who is not eligible for skin tag / mole removal?
- A person that is not prone to keloid scars;
- A person that has diabetes;
- A healing disorder;
- Lymphatic draining issues;
- A person who has a pacemaker;
- Pregnancy;
- Breastfeeding;
- Skin Cancer history;
- History of hyperpigmentation;
- A person who is prone to certain skin conditions.
Does Plasma Fibroblast remove skin tags?
Yes, the Plasma Pen generates plasma energy that penetrates the outer layers of the skin causing the skin tag to come off. This procedure is completely safe.
Does the Plasma Fibroblast treatment hurt?
The treatment with the Plasma Pen is mildly to moderately uncomfortable.
A 40% numbing cream is applied to the area 20 – 25 minutes prior to the procedure.
Can skin tags grow back after removal?
Generally skins tags do not grow back in the same area after removal.
If you develop other skin tags in the same area, you might be prone to having them in that area.
How long does it take for a skin tag to heal once removed?
After the treatment, the wound takes about 5 - 10 days to heal.
Then another 2 – 3 weeks to heal completely.
What does skin look like after skin tag removal?
The treated area will be red / burnt after Plasma Pen removal.
A scab will form over the next 5 – 10 days.
If it important not to pick the scab off but to let it fall off naturally.
You may have a pinkish mark on the skin but this is natural as the healing is still taking place from within your body.
A slight imperfection might appear on the skin, but will be hardly noticeable.
What can you do to prevent future skin tags?
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Get regular exercise
- Avoid jewellery and clothing that that might rub against your skin
What are the pre-treatment guidelines?
- If have any concerns whether the skin tag / mole / wart is cancerous, consult your dermatologist prior to your appointment.
- Ensure that the area clean and free of any creams, lotions, cosmetics, and deodorants.
- Shave the area if there is any hair around the skin tag being removed.
- Wear loose clothes to ensure that there is no friction on the area after your treatment.
- Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol intake as these can have delayed effects of collagen formation to assist with the healing process.
- Supplement your diet with Vitamins C, A, E, Magnesium Copper, Iron and Zinc for 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
- Stop any skin medications 3 months prior to your treatment being done.
What are the post-treatment guidelines?
- Ensure that the area is kept dry at all times.
- If you have a skin tag removed, clean the area with soap and water twice a day.
- Apply the ointment as recommended by your therapist 2 – 3 times a day until the scabs fall off.
- Don't use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, which can slow healing.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds to the treated area.
- Once the scabbing process is complete, always apply broad spectrum SPF 50 or higher to the area for a minimum of 3 months after your last treatment.
- Avoid shaving over the area until the area has healed.
- Avoid pools, saunas, exercise and sweating until after the scabs have fallen off and your skin returns to it’s normal state.
- Do not apply any makeup to the area if the skin tag was on your face until the scabs have fallen off.
